Our Abba Father

Ordinary but Effective Ways of Doing Things

Series #3

bemercifulGod is merciful. He made a way for us to be saved from our pitiful state in need of redemption.

Prophet Nehemiah has a lot to say about this when he prayed for Israel. (Bible reference is Nehemiah Chapter 9 starting from verses 6-31) There’s so much to learn about this prayer.

“May your glorious name be praised! May it be exalted above all blessing and praise!

6“You alone are the LORD. You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them. You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship you.

7“You are the LORD God, who chose Abram and brought him from Ur of the Chaldeans and renamed him Abraham. 8When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him to give him and his…

No matter the occasion, Filipinos almost always celebrate for a reason in a season. It may not be so in other parts of the world, but to a great majority of Christian nation, it is.

  • Proverbs 18:16 New Living Translation
Giving a gift can open doors; it gives access to important people!
  • Proverbs 19:6 New Living Translation

  • 2 Corinthians 9:7 English Standard Version
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

…Not out of a wrong motive – to gain…

A Spiritual Battle

battle-plan-cover-2

Ephesians 6:11-12 New Living Translation
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Who is the enemy?

  • satan
  • the devil
  • darkness
  • wickedness
  • sin – know this enemy – for you might be allies!
  • evil rulers and authorities (and someone you know comes to mind?)
  • evil spirits
    • demons
    • manipulating spirits
    • controlling spirits
    • witches
    • retaliating spirits
  • mighty powers – this I know nothing about…for to me, God alone is mighty!

Mark 3:9-11 New Living Translation
Jesus instructed his disciples to have a boat ready so the crowd would not crush him. He had healed many people that day, so all the sick people eagerly pushed…

1 John 4:9-10 New Living Translation
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love–not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
